Industry specialisation
Waterland focuses on industries, which are undergoing change as a consequence of one or more of the following trends:
Outsourcing & efficiency: the necessity for both profit- and non-profit organisations to increase efficiency and reduce costs; but also the continuing trend to concentrate on 'core business' and to outsource non core activities leads to attractive investment opportunities.
Ageing population: a growing share of the population consists of 'senior citizens'. This group drives a growing demand for a variety of products and services that improve the quality of life or extend life expectancy.
Leisure & luxury: a growing part of the population has increased purchasing power, more leisure time and strives for a higher standard of living. This trend causes accelerated growth in a continuously increasing number of luxury and leisure markets.
Sustainability: the sustainability theme is growing in importance in our society. This trend causes an increasing demand for specific products and services that are beneficial for the environment and human wellbeing.
Waterland has substantial experience in a large number of industries affected by the trends listed above. In a considerable number of industries Waterland is pursuing its entrepreneurial investment strategy. In partnership with the management teams, market leadership has been achieved in a.o. childcare (Catalpa, The Netherlands), adventure travel (Avontuur.nu, The Netherlands and Belgium) and funeral and cremation services (Sophia, Belgium).
